When it comes to facilities at San Francisco International Airport (SFO), passengers will find excellent eating, shopping and disabled facilities within its four main terminal buildings (Terminals 1, 2 3 and the International Terminal), laid out around a large ring. There are four large duty-free stores in Terminal 1 and Terminal 3, meaning that you can pick up last-minute gifts tax-free.

Within the terminal buildings at San Francisco Airport, passengers can expect to find a number of airport coffee shops, restaurants, fast-food outlets and shops. The terminals serve many different airlines and are connected by the convenient AirTrain internal transit system.

San Francisco Airport information desks are situated on level 1 of the Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, and levels 2 and 3 of the International Terminal building. These desks are manned by helpful airport staff (often multilingual) and are open every day between 09:00 to 21:00.

Shops, Duty-Free and Retail Outlets


There are in excess o 60 shops and outlets at San Francisco Airport, including four DFS duty free stores (Galleria, Satellite, General Duty Free and Wine / Cigars). Only a handful of these shops reside within pre-security areas, such as CNBC News, Hudson Booksellers, InMotion Entertainment, SFO News Express, Simply Gourmet and Zoo Travel. Elsewhere, shopping highlights include the Body Shop, Burberry, California Lifestyle, Gucci, Hudson News, the PGA Tour Shop, the Sunglass Hut, Swarovski, Techshowcase, Tumi and Wine Wisdom.

Bars, Cafés and Restaurants


If you are looking for a bite to eat at SFO, then you won't have far to look. There are more than 45 different eateries spread around the terminals, in both pre-security and post-security areas. Familiar old favorites include brands such as Burger King, Starbucks, TGI Friday's and Subway, while you may also like to dine at the Andale Mexican Restaurant, Deli-Up Cafe, Firewood Cafe, Go Bistro, Lark Creek Grill, Perry's, the San Francisco Soup Company, Tomokazu, the Willow Creek Grill and the Yankee Pier.

Currency Exchange, Communications and Banking Facilities


There are numerous ATM cash points located throughout SFO Airport, as well as currency exchange and a full-service bank, which is open from Monday to Friday between 08:00 to 16:00 and on Saturday between 08:00 to 12:00. The bank is located in Terminal 3 and provides a full range of international banking facilities. Also readily to hand are public telephones, post boxes and several stamp machines.

Other facilities at SFO include a hairdressers, which is located in the main international terminal building, as well as a Christian science reading room and Berman reflection room. There are also a number of onsite family attractions, such as the SFO Museum, the Aviation Museum and Library, the SFO Museum, exhibitions provided by the San Francisco Arts Commission, and a Kid's Spot. Additional amenities include animal 'relief' areas, hydration stations, showers, a medical clinic and rapid charging units.
